irLondon is Dead!

Long Live... Something else...

The people behind irLondon went on to variously: Become a Chemistry Professor; land a top A&R job; run a record label and a nightclub or a mixture of various. Perhaps unsurprisingly that all takes up more time than is healthy and leaves none for the listings monolith that was irLondon. So it has been dead for a while and is now officially dead.

The messageboard still works but has been hijacked (should I say has revolted) by people that consider Kasabian pretty forward looking musically. Fair enough. If that's what they like. In the meantime if you do want to go out in London here's the obvious regular clubs:

Monday
Trash
www.trashclub.co.uk
'The daddy of indie clubs' - according to the NME and they're pretty much right. If it's a good night it'll be a great night. Their choice of live bands is also pretty special.

Tuesday
White Heat
www.whiteheatmayfair.com
Created by the people behind this site. Live bands till 11 then drinking and dancing after. Bands that have played include: The Long Blondes; Tom Vek; Bloc Party; Death From Above 1979; Klaxons; Mclusky; kaito; The Chinese Stars; Test-Icicles; Clor; Todd; Part Chimp; Semifinalists; Chrome Hoof; You say Party! We Say Die!; Vincent Vincent and the Villains; Metric; Shit Disco; 1990s; Jamie T; Les Incompetents; Whirlwind Heat; The Horrors; Forward, Russia!; Lethal Bizzle; Young Knives; Guillemots; Trencher; Maximo Park...

Wednesday
er... well... can someone start a good night on a Wednesday please? Bond to be some monthly nights knocking about...

Thursday
The Bunker
At the Metro is usually pretty busy.

Young and Lost Club
www.youngandlostclub.com
Bands and DJs - check website for details.

Friday
Club NME is the biggest thing around. Not very interesting musically however and laughable band booking make it a pretty weird concept. Full though.
Monthly nights include:
Silver Rocket Club
Noise Bands mostly but not always.

Saturday
Frog
If there's a decent band on (they've had Panic at the Disco play so check carefully) or to hang out in the Young and Lost room (where you're more likely to get a good band).
After Skool Klub
Musically more interesting than the main room at Frog and the drinks are cheaper.

That's it. Time Out seems to have most good things in it. Great drinks column too...
